Its maybe not surprising that, with early career experiences as part of the Barry Guy New Orchestra, the Reggie Workman Ensemble and Anthony Braxton, Marilyn Crispell became such a force of nature when sat at the piano. Raymond MacDonald is a founding member of the Glasgow Improvisers’ Orchestra and another equally prolific recording and collaborating artist who’s work has veered from interactions with Evan Parker to David Byrne and all points in between. At GIOFest XIII, Marilyn and Raymond re-visit their collaboration that has previously ranged from full GIO accompaniment to raw piano/sax duo.
