GIOfest XIII - Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra 

Glasgow-based ensemble use improvisation to allow them to interact with musicians, artists, writers, filmmakers and dancers from across the planet, creating a whole raft of new collaborative encounters in the process. GIO has a flexible membership of around 25 musicians but has made artists such as Evan Parker, Maggie Nicols, Keith Rowe, Keith Tippet and many others part of its work over many years. GIO has been described as “One of the best large improvising ensembles in the world” by BBC Jazz On 3 and as being in the “Premier league of the European improvisation scene” (Süddeutsche Zeitung)
