Dr Mwamba has become something of a household name of late due to his steering of the BBC Radio 3 show Freeness. The show’s title makes clear Corey’s main interest in music – improvisation – and what he considers his ‘main’ group Yana have been lauded for bringing “raw punk attitude” to the vibraphone. When he’s not making music (he also plays dulcimer and processing software) Corey is researching it and is also very involved in free music event production and promotion. “You sort of feel that Mwamba could turn up in any situation and put things right or make something new for you, depending on need or wish.”
